Guitar Cases

Whether you are taking your guitar round to a friend's house for the evening, taking it on holiday, or transporting it to a gig, it makes sense to take good care of it while it is in transit. Remember, you may not always be with it to look after it. You need a guitar case.

There are three types of guitar cases, the soft case, often called a bag, the hardshell case and the flight case. The soft bag is really handy for walking, going on a bus or train, taking your instrument to school or college. The bag is light, it usually has pockets for your music and accessories, and with some of them you can put your arms through the handles and wear it like a rucksack, with your precious guitar on your back, out of harm's way.

If you are putting the guitar in the boot of a car, the baggage area of a bus or train or the like, a sensible step is to protect it with a hardshell case, which is basically two halves, made of covered card or board, or plastic, which close to give the guitar some degree of protection against knocks and scuffs.

If you are to send your instrument off with someone else, for example in the hold of an aeroplane, or in a lorry going to a concert, you really need a rigid metal flight case to give it full protection against crushing and other major dangers.
